Top 5 Bathing Suits For Summer

While living in Canada, there are two months out of the year that almost everyone looks forward to- JULY & AUGUST! We have extremely long and cold winters, this year especially. We basically skipped right over spring and finally hit summer.

Therefore, I try to take advantage of the warm weather as much as possible. Almost every weekend I’m doing something on or near the water. That being said, bathing suits are an essential item to my summer wardrobe.

I get all of my swimwear from Bigley’s Beach House. They have over 25,000 suits to choose from. One-pieces, bikinis, tankinis, cup-specific suits, chlorine resistant suits, mastectomy suits,  you name it, they most likely have it.

I’ve rounded up my top five favourite swimsuits for summer.

This darling bikini is by Seafolly. Seafolly is an extremely high quality, Australian brand. If you take care of your suit accordingly, it will last you for years (it’s recommended to wash your suit with baby shampoo). The print of this bikini was the first thing that caught my eye, but in addition to that, this is a new style of top that they just came out with this season. It provides the option to be crossed at the back (for extra support), or go straight down. It also has adjustable straps, which is extremely helpful when finding the right fit. There are two different options of bottoms in this print- the tie-side, or the hipster (in above photo). The hipster provides slightly more coverage then the tie-side.

This exquisite one-piece is by Maryan Mehlhorn. Maryan Mehlhorn has been designing swimwear for over 40 years, and has nailed the highest standards in quality and fit. Her swimwear is recognized for its magnificent prints and embroideries. This suit in particular immediately caught my attention. The detail is incredible. If you want to make a statement at the pool or beach this summer, this suit is calling your name. Maryan Mehlhorn suits are definitely a splurge, but the craftsmanship is so unique, they truly are one-of-a-kind.

This chic little bikini is by L-Space. L-Space is another high-quality, Australian swimwear brand. They’re by far the softest swimsuits I have yet to come across. I love the colour of this suit, and under-cross detail in the top. Although this suit in particular doesn’t provide a ton of support, if you’re looking for a trendy, comfortable suit that will last for years, this is a great option. This one has also been a top-seller at Bigley’s Beach House, so if you’re interested, I would jump on it while supplies last.

This sporty one-piece is by Body Glove. I love the print and zipper detail. As I’m sure many of you are aware, one-pieces are a huge trend this season. I love wearing this one for “Sunday Funday’s” by the dock. I usually wear it with a pair of denim shorts (unless I’m going in the water of course). Body Glove suits are a great price point, and great suits for water activities. This print is also available in numerous bikini styles as well.

This gorg suit is again by Seafolly. This colour has been my absolute favourite lately, and it’s very on trend in the swimwear industry right now. I love these high-waisted bottoms because they hide the tummy, but look stylish at the same time. The top is not only super cute, it provides a good amount of support as well. The perfect neutral and classy suit for summer.

Adorable Off-the-shoulder Dress

I’m pretty sure 90% of the blog posts I’ve done this summer have consisted of dresses, but I can’t help it! Dresses have literally been allll I’ve been wearing lately! However, I’ve been showing you guys my absolute favourites, and I have to add this one to the list!

This dress is by the same designer as a couple of the recent dresses I’ve wrote about- Parker. I wasn’t kidding when I said I stalked up on Parker dresses. They’ve definitely played a major part in my summer wardrobe.

I love how Parker dresses are super stylish and trendy, yet youthful at the same time. They always add so much detail to each garment. This one in particular has the ruffle detail at the top, and black embroidery throughout the top and bottom. The white pin-stripe also makes it a classic.

Here’s the most exciting part of this whole blog post- PARKER IS CURRENTLY 50% OFF AT BIGLEY’S!! How could you possibly go wrong?!

The hat I’m wearing is available at Bigleys Beach House, and is currently 10% off. It’s such a cute touch. The shoes I’m wearing are by Michael Kors. There’s only a few sizes left, however they’re currently 30% off at Bigleys, and they also come in a cognac colour.

Summer Florals at Their Finest

Throughout the hot summer months, dresses are a go-to item for me. I find them convenient to just slip on and go. As you’ve probably noticed, I’m also all about versatile pieces. Meaning, items I can wear to a variety of different occasions. I love this dress in particular, for that reason. You can wear it to a backyard BBQ, or you can add some cute wedges and wear it to something a little more formal.

This dress is by Mink Pink. The floral print and ruffle detail on the sleeves make it a super trendy piece for summer. I also love how the tie up detail around the center makes it very slimming! If you’re still working on that summer bod (I know I sure am!), then you will appreciate this dress even more!

The wedges I’m wearing are by Dolce Vita. I wore these wedges for the first time to a graduation recently, and I was thrilled with how comfortable they are. The leather is so soft, it causes absolutely no blistering. The fact that the heel is slightly lower also adds that much more comfort.

Chambray the right way!

I recently did this photoshoot with one of our models from Bigley’s, to depict one of this seasons most prominent trends- chambray!

The early days of spring are some of the most unpredictable when it comes to the weather forecast- and thus your outfits can be equally unpredictable. It’s all too common for the temps to rise to 20s one day and plummet to 5 the next. For this reason, having an arsenal of items in your closet that will layer easily, keep you warm or cool you off when needed, and can be dressed up or down is of utmost sartorial importance. If you’re stumped over what to wear this transitional time, we suggest starting with chambray.

The reason being that chambray usually has some weight to it, making it a better transitional option then a lightweight oxford. Roll up the sleeves on warmer days, and layer under a sweater when it’s cooler.
