Outfit Of The Day: Perfect For Transitioning From Fall To Winter

IMG_8778

Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been a little MIA recently! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Black Friday is quickly approaching us, which is a busy time for the marketing team at Bigley’s. I’ve also been hitting up the gym more frequently, which has been awesome, but has cut into my blogging time a bit! Hopefully once we get through Black Friday I’ll be able to juggle my extra time between the gym and blogging a little better! However, I’m super excited to show you this look! This was my “outfit of the day”, one day last week. It’s a great outfit for transitioning from fall to winter.

This coat is by Lyla + Luxe. One of the things that I love most about this coat is that it’s a very stretchy material, which makes it even more comfortable then it looks. I also love the colour. If you keep up-to-date with fashion trends, you’ve probably heard over and over again that olive is the neutral of the season. And to be honest, I couldn’t be happier about that. Whether it’s trending or not, olive has always been one of my favourite colours to wear. PS. (totally off topic) but I just want to clarify that in Canada we spell ‘favourite’ and ‘colour’ with a U lol. A few American readers have kindly reached out to let me know I’ve been spelling those words wrong, however for some reason here in Canada we spell them a little differently! Just wanted to clear that up! haha. Anywho, back to this coat. I love the length of it as well. Not only does it add a bit more warmth, and allows you to dress it up if need be. I decided to keep it pretty casual here, but a little bootie with a heel would be super cute as well.

The sweater I’m wearing is by French Connection. This sweater is so extremely warm. It also looks great on its own. It’s a great neutral, cozy sweater to wear with a pair of jeans. However, if you have a problem with wearing wool sweaters due to them feeling itchy, I wouldn’t recommend this sweater to you. As warm and cozy as it is, it does feel a little itchy on the skin.

The boots I’m wearing are by Ten Points, which is a fairly new brand that Bigley’s is carrying. One thing that I love about these boots is that they’re made with VEGETABLE tanned leather. They’re a great ‘everyday’ boot. They’re a little more casual but still pull the outfit together, to appear classy and stylish. They’re also available in dark blue.

My purse is by Fossil, and is available in store at Bigley Shoes & Clothing.

SHOP: Lyla + Luxe coat,  French Connection sweater, Ten Points boots,  similar Hudson Jeans

Why I’m Obsessed With Great Lengths Hair Extensions

86A2DB65-B466-497B-8D8B-086BCB1D45DE

A couple days ago I went to get my hair done, and after throwing out a couple snapchats about it, I received an overwhelming amount of questions regarding my hair. Therefore, I figured a whole blog post talking all things hair, was in order! Ps. if you don’t already follow me on Snapchat, you totally should (username: dollypeel). I tend to be quite the chatty cathy on there!

I get my hair done in Toronto at The Little House of Great Lengths. My stylists name is Dee, she’s actually the owner of the salon. I’ve been going to Dee for about 10 years now. I’ve never changed stylists and I probably never will. Even when I lived in Florida, I would purposely make a trip home just to get my hair done! I know that sounds crazy, but Dee and I have grown a bond over the years, and it’s very hard for me to trust anyone else besides her. Many people don’t realize this but I have extensions, and I absolutely love them! Which also contributes to my reasoning for flying all the way home for my hair.

I’ve been getting extensions since 12th grade! It was actually my graduation present. I’ve always got Great Length extensions. Great Length extensions are not just about length, they can be used to create volume, highlights, or even fix questionable haircuts. If you want to add dimension with colour to your hair, without the damage of chemical colour, Great Lengths are a great option! However, the thing I love most about Great Lengths is that they don’t use glue, wax, latex, or metal that can damage hair. Like I said earlier, I’ve been getting Great Lengths extensions for YEARS and I can honestly say they have not damaged my hair at all. In fact, my hair has actually grown. Great Lengths utilizes a polymer bond- a synthetic material that mimics the molecular structure of hair itself. It causes no damage provided it is installed properly and you take care of it as instructed.

I get my hair done about every 5 months (I do tend to stretch it a bit, because I live a fair distance away from my salon). When I go to get my hair done, it’s pretty much an all day event. I get a removal, a highlight, toner, trim, and then the extensions reinstalled. Shawn does my highlights, and Dee installs my extensions. This might seem like a super long day, but I actually look forward to spending the day at the salon. Dee and Shawn are super fun to hang with, and Dee is always such a sweetie and orders me sushi for lunch (not going to lie, I look forward to that sushi way more then I should – it’s so good LOL).

I’ll give you a few details about my extensions in particular. I get 20 inch extensions, and lately I’ve been using the colour 59, which is a really icy blonde. Shawn also highlights my hair and does a toner on it before hand in the shade ice, and he added a tiny bit of pink to it this time as well.

Although extensions are not in everyone’s budget (and to be quite honest they’re not always in mine), I never regret splurging on them. I’ll often ask my parents not to get me any Christmas or Birthday presents and just put that money towards my hair lol. But as you can see in these pictures, the transformation is amazing and in my eyes, it’s totally worth it!

So, if you’re interested in extensions, I wholeheartedly recommend Great Lengths. And if you live in the Toronto area, I personally wouldn’t go anywhere but The Little House of Great Lengths!
