GIFT IDEA: Chic Stationary

I am a huge fan of surprising others with gifts, whether its their birthday, mothers day, Christmas or just a simple ‘I appreciate you’ gift. I find so much satisfaction in watching others light up with excitement.

However, I’m as guilty as the next girl when it comes to making that last minute dash to the mall. Sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day to spend searching for that perfect gift! So, if you’re in a bind and need a gift thats both thoughtful and exciting to receive, here is a suggestion that is a personal go-to: CHIC STATIONARY.

Chic Stationary is currently a huge trend, and fairly easy to find. Additionally, who doesn’t love a pair of beautiful gold scissors to match their perfect gold stapler, and an equally perfect planner? It’s not a common purchase that one would buy themselves and they can give their office a little face lift, all thanks to your gift of goodies.

My moms Birthday was on August 5th. I was in the process of driving back from Florida and made a little pit-stop at Target. I found everything I needed to whip up a super cute basket of stationary. My mom is very business oriented and spends much of her days stuck in the office, so she was very excited and appreciative of this gift. I even added a matching picture frame with a photo of the two of us, which gave it a personal touch.

Gift Guide: The Beauty Guru

giftguidethebeautyguru

It seems like every girl has a beauty guru bestie in her life (or maybe you are that girl!). She’s always up to speed with the hottest nail colors, she can pull off the bold lips, and she’s the first person you go to for tips on how to get rid of those dark circles under your eyes. You couldn’t live without her expertise. So to show her how much she means to you this holiday season, here are a few fun gift ideas that go beyond a pre-packaged soap set…

  1. Buxom Full-bodied Lipgloss
  2. Glam Glow Youth Mud
  3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
  4. Butter Nail Polish
  5. Beauty Blender
  6. Go Smile Teeth Whitening Gel
  7. Philosophy Amazing Grace Body Wash
  8. Clarisonic Skin Cleaning System
  9. NARS Blush, Contour, and Lip Palette

Beauty Necessities

1. Dior Hrydra Life Pro-Youth Sorbet Creme: I came across the moisturizer when I was doing my internship in New York City. After living in South Florida for four years my skin wasn’t used to the dry, winter weather, so my skin was begging for some love. After using the product consistently for about a month, I immediately noticed a difference. My skin was glowing and radiant. I haven’t changed moisturizers since. It’s a little more expensive, but I promise you it’s worth it!

2. Makeup-Forever Full Cover Concealer: Full coverage concealer. If I’m in a rush, I will often only put this on a couple of blemishes, under my eyes, mascara, and I’m out the door. It’s perfect for a quick fix.

3. Makeup-Forever Invisible Cover Foundation: I love a flawless foundation, that provides full coverage. I previously only used MAC foundations, because I couldn’t find any other product that could fit my expectations. However, I began to find that MAC was too heavy for my skin, and caused me to break out. After numerous trials of various foundations, I finally came across this one, and I haven’t changed since. It’s light enough to avoid break outs, yet still provides full, flawless coverage. This product was also an award winner in Allure Beauty Expert 2015.

4. MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden: I’ve been using this product for as long as I can remember. I’ve tested a few other bronzers but I always seem to come back to this one. It has the perfect amount of shimmer in it, and provides just the right amount of definition to my cheek bones.

5. Smashbox Eyshadow Trio in Vanilla, Sable, & Sumatra: I received this product in a trial box from Sephora, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I combine Vanilla and Sable for a very natural, daytime look. If I’m trying to create a look that is slightly more dramatic I add in Sumatra.

Current Beauty Cravings

I’ve always loved make-up, but I typically always wore the same exact products over and over. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with various different items and I’ve found a few new favs!

1. Anastasia Contour Kit (Light to Medium)– it comes in a palette with six different shades. A couple of the shades are a little dark for my skin tone, but I love the rest. The ‘banana’ shade is my favourite. Sometimes I use it to set my foundation, and other times I just quickly throw it on, without anything else, to create an even skin tone. (Available at Sephora)

2. Bobbi Brown Blush (Desert Rose)- this has become my “go-to” blush! It’s suttle, but adds the perfect glow to the cheeks. I’m absolutely obsessed.

3. Laura Geller Love Me Dew Lip Crayon– I bought these in a pack of three from Nordstroms. I love them because they make any look pop, and they stay on all day! I’ll definitely be investing in these again.

Stocking Stuffers Under $100

Clutch Essentials

Mints – When chatting at the bar or an awkwardly small table, personal-space-violations are inevitable, and fresh breath just becomes common courtesy.

Small brush – You never know when that gusty wind is going to strike. Always be prepared.

Safety pins – These little metal pins can save you from a multitude of fashion disasters, like losing a button or a broken zipper.

Cash – I’m not someone who always carries cash, but there are still places that don’t take debit cards, so having a few small bills on hand for tips and the occasional tin cup, is always a good idea…especially in big cities.

Drivers license and credit/debit cards – Both of these are probably a no brainer, but they’re also the most fundamental items in your clutch. Before you leave the house, double check that you haven’t lost these critical plastics.

Mini perfume – Mini perfume bottles are my favorite thing to keep in my clutch, handbag and makeup bag. They always come in handy and keep you from smelling like your immediate surroundings.

Change – Quarters aren’t only good for laundry day. It’s important to keep a few on hand for paying those pesky parking meters!

Pain reliever – If you’re prone to headaches like me, a pain reliever that’s in reach is a requirement for survival.

Lipstick and gloss – Eating and drinking is your lipstick’s biggest enemy, so it’s crucial to keep some color in your clutch for reapplications throughout the night.

Powder – I’ve noticed that the more fun I have during a night out, the quicker my makeup fades. A compact pressed powder should always be a beauty essential to keep your skin looking fresh instead of faded.

Pack of tissues – Tissues are great to use for blotting off surface oil from your skin and correcting make up smudges.

Backup phone charger – This little pink rectangle could save your life if you happen to get stranded without a phone in where-did-all-my-friends-go, USA. And what’s equally as terrifying is not having access to your camera and social media accounts. (Pocket Juice power bank)

Stain removing pen – To prevent yourself from having to flaunt a food or wine stain on your dress all evening, an instant stain remover, like a Tide Pen, has the power to save your garment and your dignity.

7 Braided Hairstyles for Fall

Let’s face it: There aren’t too many of us (myself included) who have time to get a blow out every single day. And while in a perfect world we would have gorgeous beachy waves in a pinch, sometimes we need a quick fix to make our hair look good. Enter: braids. Creating a braided hairstyle is the perfect solution when you want to look put together but you don’t have time for perfecting your mane. It’s my go-to when I’m trying to make my hair last between blowouts, and it works every time. Which is why I was recently inspired to research a few new ways to plait my tresses…

Each of the hairstyles below will be a perfect compliment to your fall wardrobe.
